| Sick and tired of being sick and tired. |
[Nov. 24th, 2009|02:02 pm] |
The past few weeks have been pretty rough for me. I haven't had a nights sleep of more than 2-3 hrs a day. I get home from work beat and just lay in bed for about 2 hrs and then wake up maybe 2 hrs later. If I'm lucky, I can get another 2hrs in. Frankly I'm drained and exhausted and am gonna try to make an appointment with my doctor and maybe get some sleeping pills. On top of it all, I'm fighting a head cold. Frankly something has gotta change soon. I've got tomorrow off, so maybe I can catch up on some sleep.
On the plus side I won last week in the hockey pool with my biggest score yet 40-32. My biggest problem is that just like the real NHL, injuries are starting to drag me down. Presently I'm down 5 starters: Valtteri Filppula, P. M. Bouchard, Cory Stillman, Chris Drury, G. Lupul, and none of them look like they will be back anytime soon. |

Well I checked online and couldn't find any price on a new wheel. I did however discover that the reset process I had been told to use was WRONG. I was told to press the wheel centre and down, but it's actually centre and up. I tried it and it rebooted itself. Whew, that's a load off my mind. |

[Nov. 21st, 2009|09:45 am] |
The gods of technology must hate me. After getting my Ipod fixed and enjoying it for 2 weeks, it crapped out on me last night. I had sound, but no picture. It had froze earlier that night, but I thought I had fixed it. I guess I was wrong. I see another trip to TO in my future.
On the positive side, I managed to fish up my turtle mount in WOW yesterday. It took me only about 4hrs total, while a fellow guildy has tried for weeks to get his. I hoping in the next week or so, to finish off the Dalaran and Outlands cooking dailies as well as my unarmed combat achievment (5 points short).
I also hope that everyone at MFF is having a blast. |

| I hasa a Leroy |
[Nov. 18th, 2009|06:44 am] |
For living in the middle of the city, next to what used to be a very active manufacturing area, we have a surprising amount of wildlife. I've seen several raccoons and a few encounters with skunks that didn't end badly, but now we have a new visitor. When I went to bed this morning, I was going to put the dog out, but sitting on the fence was a rather large opossum, so I passed. 2 1/2 hrs later when I got up to put him out, the possum was still there and just watched with mild interest as the dog went about his business and came back into the house. he paid me even lass attention as I got within 2 feet without any notice.
Now this isn't the first time I've seen him, but he vamoosed the last few times he saw us, so I think he's gonna be here for the duration. The fact that our neighbors yard is full of trash, probably doesn't hurt either.
Therefore, I name him Leroy. |

| My prospect is pain |
[Nov. 10th, 2009|08:11 am] |
|
Well today I get to spend my day off in my dentists chair. In the last 3 weeks I have had several substantial breaks and a burgeoning toothache. Frankly I'm just gonna tell him: "You've got a $1000 to work with, so go wild and leave the minor stuff until the new year." I', hoping he's not gonna pull anything, but one tooth is a bit iffy in that regard. |

| Oh happy day, but oh so tired |
[Nov. 7th, 2009|07:32 pm] |
|
Well I decided to get my Ipod fixed today, so I headed out to Toronto right after work. When I arrived, I discovered that the area I was in had no restaurants where you could a simple breakfast. After wandering around for 2hrs, waiying for them to open, I ended up eating at Burger King. When the did open, it was decided that the battery was dead. 15 minutes later, it was fixed and even came with a charge. From there it was home and finally to bed. |

| Disappointing |
[Oct. 31st, 2009|06:47 pm] |
Well Halloween is over for another year and I was disappointed. For over 3hrs, I handed out candy to just 19 kids, rather than the usual 75-100 I've had in past years. I imagine it was due to a combination of cold weather and H1N1 fears. The youngest I had was 6 weeks and she had been fast asleep since the first house. The most obscure award goes to a girl that was dressed up as Polkaroo, which is probably only recognized by Canadian readers as being from the Polka Dot Door.
On the upswing I have a crap load of candy and chips, although with my toothache, I don't know if its the best idea. |

| TO Furmeet |
[Oct. 25th, 2009|05:46 am] |
Well, the Islington Furmeet was yesterday and I had another great time. I found this time that rather than just hanging around with the 3-4 people I knew, I was having conversations with many of the other furs as well.
I was very pleasantly surprised to see that Jacob was there, had a great time talking hockey with him and wish him better luck next time at cribbage. I also want to thank Morgan for doing such a wonderful job on the tail that I had him do for me. I got many unusual looks from people on the way home. I'm also sorry that Pakesh and I never did get a game of something going. Oh well, maybe next time.
On the art front, I also got a very nice giraffe sketch from Babs Bunny and look forward to getting another piece from the artists again in December. |

| Good times |
[Oct. 11th, 2009|08:27 pm] |
Everything has been going so well lately.
Wednesday: Went to the Toronto fur dinner in Toronto and had a wonderful time. Was nice seeing Morgan and Pakeesh again and sat across from Babs Bunny, a very talented local artist. Looking forward to the furmeet later this month.
Work has been going great as well. Now that I'm in the cooler FT, I've started making some changes that seem to be really working. We also had our assessment and I scored fairly high. Didn't get as much of a raise as we had hoped, but it's still better than what I would've gotten at my last job.
Today: Went home for Thanksgiving with the family and to go to the fair. We had fantastic weather and I picked up some nice apple cidar. I also picked up a ton of freebies like pens and tote bags. Dinner was excellent as usual. I ate way too much, but it was soo good. |

| More work stuff |
[Oct. 5th, 2009|02:49 pm] |
Well it looks like I mat be working in the produce cooler full time now. My friend Jamie, who used to work there, quit on Friday. Apparently he had a meeting with the store manager over our up-coming raise and wasn't happy with what he heard and quit. It's unfortunate, but I wish him all the best.
The one side effect is that when I went to bed this morning, I dreamt of nothing but filling produce orders. Hopefully I'll get this out of my system soon. |

| Bleeeeech |
[Oct. 3rd, 2009|02:13 pm] |
We had a fairly intense storm blow though last night and apparently it was bad enough that it took out the cable/phone/internet in the city for Rogers subscribers. Luckily we only have the tv with them, but thats bad enough. What also sucks is that the login page for Anthrochat is down, so apparently no IRC for me tonite as well.
It could be worse, I could have no internet either. |

| Oh joy |
[Oct. 1st, 2009|06:54 am] |
|
Well, I've been playing phone tag with the woman from the bank and decided to visited my local bank today. Miracle of miracles, my money was there, so apparently the system does work sometimes. Now all I need is for my paycheck shortage to be fixed and then all will be right with the world again. |
|
|
| More bank stuff |
[Sep. 27th, 2009|02:27 pm] |
Well I went to the bank on Friday to see if they could help. I explained my situation and they weren't sure what they could do for me. What they told me is, they would have to wait until the company that services the machine checks for a cash difference. Due to security concerns, even the bank doesn't know when that might be, but they will call me when they find out.
On the good side, they did arrange overdraft for me and agreed to eat any charges this month because of it. So hopefully I'll have access to the money by Tuesday and have my account fixed by Friday.
Talked to my store manager yesterday and apparently the new time clock we've been using isn't connected to anything. Seem that the assistant manager forgot to mention that when she had us start using the new clock. So I'm short about about 24hrs and my sister almost 40. Now we just have to wait until Monday to have a meeting with our manager to go over the shortages. |

|
| Crap, crap, crap |
[Sep. 25th, 2009|02:20 pm] |
As it was payday this morning, I went to the bank to get some cash. When I checked my balance, it seemed to be short about $100. I figure this is because of the new time clock I have been testing, so hopefully I will get that figured out when I get my pay stub tonite. From here things went downhill. I took out $500 and listened as I heard the cash being counted. Suddenly the screen announced that there had been a problem and that the machine was out of service. Ok, I figured that it didn't have enough cash and tried the next one. I double-checked my balance again and saw that the $500 had been deducted.
Crap.
Now here's it 5:15am and I have no cash. I called them and after being on hold twice, I finally got a person. I explained my situation to him and after confirming my identity, he explained that it may take 5 days and that I MAY, not will, but MAY get the money back. Now at this point I started panicking as I desperatly need this money for rent and bills. He did suggest that I go to the actual branch where this happened, explain my situation and hopefully they will be able to speed up the process.
I'm about to head out, so wish me luck. |

| Hockey pool stuff |
[Sep. 23rd, 2009|02:48 pm] |
Well last Saturday, we had our first coaches meeting/draft of the current year of our hockey pool. Now into my 9th year, I hope to do better, but then I say that every year.
So here's list of how I did for anyone who cares.
Trades:
Traded Sheldon Souray and Brendan Morrisson for Ruslan Fedotenko and Joffrey Lupul
Draft:
1. Jonas Gustavsson (R)-TOR-G 2. Ryan Ellis (R)-NSH-D 3. Tyler Cuma (R)-MIN-D 4. David Moss -CAL-F 5. Chet Pickard (R)-NSH-G 6. Tyler Kennedy -PIT-F
Now I went in with a plan to get at least 2 rookie goalies and I did. Hopefully both will turn out to be something, but they're gonna be long-term assets that I hope will be ready when Brodeur retires.
Free Agent auction.
Didn't plan on any many huge purchase, but I was happy with who I got.
1. Shawn Horcoff -EDM-F $40 2. Keith Tkachuk -STL-F $1 (a steal as far as I'm concerned)
Thats all for now.
Ciao |

| Week in review |
[Sep. 20th, 2009|12:52 pm] |
It's been an interesting week with lots of interesting stuff, so I might as well begin.
Good:
1. At work they decided to put me into the cooler to do produce. This basically has me filling the fruit/vegetable part of our orders and leaving them for the shoppers to take. I'd always been leery because I'm not a real big fan of the cold, but I was suprised that it wasn't as bad as I thought. Best of all, I got hearty thank you from the other 2 people who work in produce for a job well done.
2. Went to see 9 on Tuesday with my former boss Ted. Now it was supposed to be cheap nite, but instead they offered us vouchers for free pop and popcorn. Frankly this was a much better deal as it was a savings of around $12.00. Now the movie is short, but was still quite enjoyable. It reminded me of watching a video game, but with even better animation. I won't go too much into the movie so as not to ruin it for people,
Bad:
1) The cold I've been fighting since MFM is still lingering around and just won't leave. Now working in the cooler hasn't helped, but I've been drinking lots of OJ and chicken soup, so maybe I'll be lucky.
Ugly:
1) Now where's a cop when you need them. Three times in the last week I've been witness to 3 "gentleman" taking a whiz in public in broad daylight. One in a bus shelter and two in the doorway of stores and one while the store owner stood there and watched. Now this wasn't a little side street but one of the main city streets at about 5:30.
If I had seen a cop, I would have reported the incidents. I can understand that when you have to go, you have to go, but that was too much for me. |

| Back |
[Sep. 8th, 2009|06:00 am] |
Well I made it home about an hour ago. Once again, many thanx go to Linneus for driving me back to Chi-Town. I had a great time talking with ya for the 9+hr trip.
I made it to the bus station with about an hour to spare, waited in line for about 30 min. and got to be told that the bus was sold out. I'd figured that rather than wait almost another 8hrs, I'd check with the driver to see if he had any open seats and my prayers were answered. I got the LAST friggan seat on the bus. It was a tight squeeze and I'm sure I'm covered in bruises, I'm glad that I made it.
Now I can go to work tonite....yay me.
The last day of the con went well, with TygerCowboy deserving an Oscar for the show he put on. All con long he had announced that there would be a major announcement at closing ceremonies. I thought for sure that he was going to be stepping down, but it was that this was going do be the last year for MFM.
At this hotel.
The initial statement brought gasps of dismay from the audience with shouts of "NO!!!" and the video seemed to confirm it. But then suddenly the announced the new location for MFM next year and the crowd went wild. I haven't checked out the site yet, but it looks good. So good in fact, that I'm going to book the date for my next years holidays tonite I hope. |

| MFF Update |
[Sep. 6th, 2009|10:39 am] |
Well I'm here ans it's almost done :(. I did make it through customs barely and once again I was asked that famous question....."Have you been to Winnipeg, sir?" I wish I knew why they keep asking me that question.
So far I've had a blast. I've managed 5-6 new sketches, including a beautiful one from Xian Jaguar as well as 2 new badges. I spent much of last night having fun watching the charity poker game where one of my roomies Linneus was participating. He was quite suprised that he made it into the final cute and sadly busted out for 7th place.
Sadly, the con is almost over and I will have to head back to real life, but I have had a great time. I have to thank Phil and Linneus for allowing me to join them in their room, Bunni, whose Hamtaro costume garnered much fun and enjoyment on the charity auction and finally to my boss, who was gracious enough to give me the time off.
Oh and a special congratz goes out to my good friend matthiasrat on his birthday.
See ya all when I get back |
